Best Middle Eastern restaurant in UK award

Ottoman Kitchen has been shortlisted to become the Best Middle Eastern restaurant in the UK.

The Southampton eaterie now goes up against four other restaurants from around the country in a bid to win the crown at the 2023 Asian Restaurant Awards held at Grosvenor House.

The restaurant faces stiff competition for the award – the other restaurants nominated for the award include Limon Restaurant, Sofra mayfair, Tas Bloomsbury and The Palomar.

Owner Niyazi Kaya said: “Two judges came along secretly to taste the food, service and consistency and they draw up a short list from there. We think they have been again but we’re not sure. They visit restaurants around the UK so to make the shortlist among all of those makes us so proud. Now we go through to the grand final held at the Grosvenor Hotel in London in November.”

“Our chefs all come from top London restaurants, and they’ve worked really hard to get our food to be the best. We won the award in 2021 but last year we didn’t even make the shortlist. So we’ve been improving our dishes and have particularly concentrated on improving our marinading for our charcoal dishes and our Baklava. It looks like we got it right. Hopefully we can win this award and give Southampton officially the best middle Eastern restaurant in the UK again.”

To celebrate their nomination, Ottoman Kitchen is now offering a special price banquet three-course menu to taste a variety of dishes throughout October for £25.95 a person. The awards ceremony takes place at Grosvenor House, London, on November 17.
